Immortals Fenyx Rising AKA Breath of the Wild meets Assassin’s Creed

“Let the tale of Fenyx be my redemption…”

Ubisoft brings us Immortals Fenyx Rising, another mythological Greek adventure and, just like the last time in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the adventure is big, bold, and full of secrets!

Unlike Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, this game is clearly catered towards a younger audience and narrated by a pair of wise-cracking Greek Gods; Zeus and Prometheus.

You play as Fenyx, a winged hero on a quest to save the Greek gods from an evil curse. Aesthetically the game is beautiful, clearly taking inspiration from The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and not straying too far from the Assassin’s Creed combat controls.

You explore the vibrant fantasy world of the Golden Isle by freely roaming across vast open fields, climbing giant mountains and old ruins, and even gliding through the skies! As long as you have the stamina to do so of course. There are plenty of secrets and mysteries to keep you busy throughout your adventure on the multiple regions of the island, all the while gaining and mastering your abilities gifted to you by the lost gods in order to help you defeat a hoard of mythological beasts.

You’ll come face-to-face with a Cyclops, Medusa and even a Minotaur! Not to mention the game’s most fearsome villain, Typhon. Typhon plans on destroying Zeus and claiming the throne of Olympos, so it’s down to you to become the legend you were destined to be!

You are the gods’ last hope!

The game is without doubt one of Ubisoft’s best-looking entries. The art style is bright and beautiful, and the map’s scale is impressive. So impressive, that it’s best to tame some of the animals you’ll find out in the wild to help you get around.

You’ll also need to collect ingredients scattered around the world to craft potions in order to restore your health, stamina, attack and defence. On top of all this, there are plenty of brain teasers you’ll have to get stuck into. Most are fairly straightforward, but I did find myself getting stuck on quite a few.

An angle grinder would be handy for those blasted metal bars, but stick with it and it’ll come to you. Top tip, use your powers!

The game is an enjoyable simplistic experience with a stunning world full of adventure that will leave you wanting to explore every inch.

I’m giving Immortals Fenyx Rising: 7/10
