JOE Gaming Weekly – A very good week for Star Wars fans

Rory Cashin

Including our first look at one of the best-reviewed Star Wars games of all time.

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So, off we go!

GAME OF THE WEEK

Sniper Elite 5

Once again taking control of elite sniper Karl Fairburne, Sniper Elite 5 sees you travel to France in 1944 in order to destroy a secret Nazi project.

This is all just background dressing for the real reason you’re here: the sneak ‘n’ stalk aspect of the gameplay. The wide open arenas give you plenty of scope – SNIPER JOKE – to tackle each mission in a number of different ways. And as per usual, if you get a confirmed kill, the game will tell you all about it by the X-ray vision of the bullet flying towards and through your target.

Sniper Elite 5 is available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK

We get our first look at the Star Wars Jedi sequel

Released in 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a very successful melding of the Star Wars universe with a Dark Souls-esque gameplay, as you take control of Cal Kestis, a Force-powered Jedi apprentice on the run from the Empire following the events of Order 66.

This week, as part of the Star Wars Celebration, we got our first look at the sequel, Jedi: Survivor. There isn’t much known about the game yet, other than it will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC some time in 2023.

DEAL OF THE WEEK

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Yep, it was released less than two months ago, so if you haven’t already played the Lego recreation of all nine main Star Wars movies, then this is absolutely the time to check them out.

Brick it around the biggest set-pieces, from The Phantom Menace to The Rise Of Skywalker and everything in between, with the usual Lego comedy and charm.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available on the PS Store for PS5 and PS4, marked down from €59.99 to €47.99 until Wednesday, 8 June.
