WATCH: Sony reveal 9 minutes of Deathloop, their next big PS5 release

We would very much like to play this right now, please and thank you.

While the first half of 2021 has given us some very good games already, we’re betting that we’ll see a lot more great games released more regularly between now and the run up to Christmas.

On Thursday night, Sony hosted their latest State Of Play event, showing off trailers and footage for some of their upcoming games, mostly focusing on smaller releases this time around (so no updates on God Of War or Horizon Zero Dawn sequels), but one of the bigger games that did wind up the spotlight this week was Deathloop.

The official synopsis for the game is as follows:

“Prowling stealthily across rooftops or tearing through the streets of Blackreef in a hail of bullets. Finding a hidden entrance or busting in through the front door. There are many ways to reach your targets in Deathloop. Our target in this extended look at the game is the Visionary Aleksis ‘The Wolf’ Dorsey. Watch Colt infiltrate his well-guarded nightly party and take him down.”

As part of the State Of Play event, Sony showed up nine minutes of gameplay from the release, which is being developed by Arkane Studios (Dishonored, Prey) and published by Bethesda (Doom, Fallout), so it has some big names behind it!

Deathloop will launch exclusively on the PS5 and on PC from Tuesday, 14 September, and is available for pre-order right now. You can also check out the full (almost hour long) State Of Play event right here.
