A man has been charged in connection with the suspected plot.
Holly Willoughby is reportedly under police guard following a suspected plot to kidnap her.
The Sun states that the 42-year-old was pulled from Thursday’s This Morning show at the last minute after being alerted of the potential threat and that she has been given protection by police.
The ITV presenter is said to be “distraught” and is being monitored by an around-the-clock police guard at the home she shares with husband, Daniel Baldwin, their children Harry, Belle and Chester.
A 36-year-old man from Harlow was arrested on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap, Essex Police said.
Later identified as Gavin Plumb, police revealed on Friday morning that the man has been charged with “soliciting to commit murder, incitement to commit rape and incitement to commit kidnap”.
He will appear in court later on Friday.
Holly Willoughby reportedly under police guard after alleged plot to kidnap her
According to The Sun, police alerted ITV producers of the alleged plot just moments before Willoughby was due to go on air.
The broadcasting television network is also providing security and support for Holly alongside the police, the PA news agency understands.
The Sun reports that police allegedly found “sinister messages” threatening to “seriously harm” the presenter and mother-of-three.
The paper also states that the suspect is not known to the star.
A source told the publication that police are “treating this as a credible conspiracy to kidnap Holly”.
“There were apparently some sinister and threatening messages found on electronic devices threatening to seriously harm her,” the source added.
ITV brought in Alison Hammond to stand in for Holly as she joined Josie Gibson last-minute.
