Heartbreaking news just in.
A No Doubt founding member has died following a fatal motorcycle accident in California.
Gabriel ‘The Gun’ Gonzalez, who was No Doubt’s original trumpet player, died on September 12 at the age of 57.
Aside from his work with No Doubt, Gonzalez also played with Save Ferris, The Untouchables, The Skeletones, and Kingston A Go Go.
Born in 1967, Gonzalez played trumpet in the band at Loara High School before joining up with Gwen Stefani and her brother Eric to form No Doubt.
Speaking to SPIN back in January, Gonzalez spoke about the group’s early years.
He said: “We were all into Madness and Prince Buster and all the Trojan shit, so Eric started banging out some upbeat ska shit and we were just goofing off writing music and we’re like, ‘let’s form a group.’ Bing bang boom, that’s how it happened.”
Rest in peace.
