JOE

Strewth! The outback has never looked so dangerous…

Now that the Twilight series has ended, it’s finally OK for JOE and you lot out there to watch a film with Robert Pattinson in it. To be fair though, those films did pretty well at the box-office without us anyway.

Pattinson has been looking to shed the ‘sparkly vegetarian vampire’ image for quite a while now and, as well as having an exclusive look at his new apocalyptic western The Rover, we’ve got tickets for you and a friend/loved one/mortal-enemy-you-want-to-bond-with to see the film in an exclusive preview screening taking place on Wednesday August 6th at 6.30pm in Light House Cinema Smithfield, Dublin.

Set in the near future, the world of The Rover is one where mankind’s greed and excesses have pushed civilization to the breaking point. Just picture the local off-licence about to close on a Holy Thursday and you’ve got an idea of what we’re talking about.

With society in decline, the rule of law has disintegrated and life is cheap. Hardened loner Eric (Guy Pearce) travels the desolate towns and roads of the scorched and dangerous Australian outback. Strewth! When a brutal gang of theives steals his car and only remaining possession, they leave behind the wounded Rey (Robert Pattinson) in their wake. Forcing Rey to help track the gang, Eric gives chase as the duo form an uneasy bond…

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets is answer the very simple question below…

JOE are big fans of director David Michôd’s previous excellent film, Animal Kingdom, and we certainly have a soft spot for atmospheric apocalyptic films like Mad Max, The Road and No Country for Old Men. If this is half as good as those films then we’re sold. See you all in The Light House!

THE ROVER will be released in Irish cinemas on August 15th.
