Directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Battleship) and based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralise a high-level Al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster star as the four Navy SEALs who are pushed to the very limits of their mental and physical capabilities.
Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish.
It almost sounds like All-Ireland Final night out in Coppers. Almost.
The film is in cinemas everywhere from 31st January 2014 but you won’t have to hang about until the official release date to see it, as the kind people at Universal Pictures have organised an exclusive advanced screening for JOE.ie readers.
We have pairs of tickets to give away to the winners-only screening which will take place at Dublin’s Cineworld on Wednesday 29th January at 7pm (doors 6pm) where there will also be survivor rations (free pizza and beer) on hand to help you through the night.
