5 ways to articulate your anger without swearing

F*ck, Sh*t, Boll*cks.

JOE

F*ck, Sh*t, Boll*cks; our first response to things that don’t go our way is to use the devil’s tongue.

But there are other ways to blow off some steam.

Here are five of the best ways to get your emotions across without resorting to the lingo of the snooker hall.

1. Sarcasm

We said we would clean up your anger, not make it more mature. Sarcasm is the perfect way to articulate your anger without ever mentioning B*tch or See you next Tuesday while still getting your childish message across.

Of course some people, such as Gordon Ramsey, like to combine the two to form a rather aggressive message.

2. Passive aggressive notes

Sticky notes have done wonders for our passive aggressive nature in the past few years with notes being left in kitchens all over the country saying “please clean up this mess :).”

It gets annoying after a while but it’s likely to get a better response than “clean this f*cking sh*t up,” that little smiley face makes all the difference.

Passive aggressive notes are not the only uses of the ingenious little post-its.

As you can see here, a group of people covered this car in sticky notes for parking in a disabled place.

We bet he was using plenty expletives when he got back to his car.

3. Gestures

Whether it’s a face scrunch, or a hand gesture, it gets the message across without lowering yourself to bad language, although depending on what you choose to use it might be just as bad if not worse.

4. Make up your own curse words

It’s hard to know who decided which words would be considered worse than others, but I suppose a lot of it comes back to context. Regardless of how it happened it’s perfectly acceptable in a fit of rage to yell random words at a person as if they are curse words and they will have the right effect.

It worked for Anchorman.

5. Tone

It’s not all about what you say it’s how you say it and I don’t mean sarcasm. Simply raising the level of your voice or indeed dropping the level of your voice should be enough to signify your unpleasant notions regarding a situation.

This is an extreme example but nonetheless, a valid one.
