An entire parish becomes obsessed with discovering who the winner is. Every pub conversation, dinner table chat and work discussion is dominated by speculation about the winner’s identity.
Everyone suddenly fancies themselves as a cut-price Sherlock Holmes. People start snooping on their neighbours and trying to uncover any clue that will solve the mystery.
If some poor unfortunate happens to buy a car, everyone immediately decides that they’re the winner. Even if the car in question is a 2006 Corsa, this will be taken as absolute proof that they won.
