PICS: A ridiculous amount of jumpers were left at the Dublin Marathon on Sunday

JOE

That’s a lot of jumpers.

Marathon runners certainly worked up a sweat at the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon today, to the point that dozens (if not hundreds) of jumpers were left at the side of the road. What an interesting sight…

The sheer amount of jumpers in the picture is more confusing than anything else, to the point that it almost looks a bit eerie. It’s almost as if the rapture came and took everybody but left their earthly belongings behind.

Jumpers ended up in piles and also lined the streets, covering the railings.

According to a tweet in the Twitter thread, the many, many jumpers will later be recycled for charity.

Dereje Debele Tulu won the marathon in convincing fashion, running the race in an incredibly impressive 2:12:18. This was a very comfortable 3 seconds ahead of the runner in second place, who was also Ethopian. Dereje Urgecha Beyecha ran in an also impressive 2:14:38.

The women’s winner was Helalia Johannes of Namibia who beat off another Ethopian in Ehite Gebireyes.

What do they all have in common? They’ll all be calling lost and found later looking for their jumpers.
