We don’t tune in all the time, but we can’t imagine that Ocean FM listeners in Sligo, Donegal and Leitrim are too used to hearing profanities uttered over the wireless.
They were in for a shock over the weekend when Francie Boylan of the Francie Boylan Show tried to have a bit of fun at the expense of fellow presenter Shane Smyth (presenter of Drive Time), who is taking a few months off the air over the summer.
As Shane also serves as a Tourism Officer in Bundoran, Francie thought he’d ring him live on air and inquire about accomodation in the seaside town.
Although Francie’s initial attempts were clumsy at best, Shane didn’t recognise the voice at the end of the line and it went downhill from there.
Francie, as it turns out, has form when it comes to phonecalls going wrong live on air as he was the man in the presenter’s chair on The Den during this moment of TV gold…
