While we are certain that you’re all kind and compassionate people, we’re still going to give you a relationship red alert because today is ‘Red Tuesday’ aka the day when you’re most likely to get dumped.
Cue everyone texting their partner, promising to cook them dinner and running out to buy gifts.
Cruel as this may seem, there’s actually research to support this sad statistic.
In a study of 1,500 members of IllicitEncounters.com, 30% of those surveyed said that they broke up with their partners just one week before Valentine’s Day.
Harsh.
What are the reasons for this unfortunate timing? Well, the significant majority (80%) simply stated that they no longer loved their partner, and felt too guilty to spend a day full of love and romance with them, knowing that they couldn’t reciprocate those feelings.
From this 80%, over half (57%) said that they feared receiving – or felt pressured into making – a proposal that they weren’t ready for.
Again, we’re confident that you’ve got this whole relationship thing down to a tee, but it might be a good idea to stay in your partner’s good graces , especially today!
