Can you solve this frustratingly simple maths puzzle?

Carl Kinsella

Okay, it’s not technically a maths puzzle… But it’s got numbers in it, and frankly it’s a lot easier than algebra.

People all over the net are trying to solve this incredibly straightforward puzzle – but a lot of them are struggling.

All you have to do is move one of the sticks that’s forming the equation 6+4=4 in order to get an answer that makes mathematical sense.

The good news is that there are at least two ways (that we can think of) to solve it… The bad news is that this might end up consuming you for the next few minutes and hours.

Okay fine. If you move the green, horizontal stick in the 6 90 degrees to the right, you end up with 0+4 = 4.

Alternatively, you can remove the vertical blue stick from the 6, place it across the top of the 4 after the equals sign and get 5 + 4 = 9.
