DCU students are about to embark on an annual adventure and raise loads of money for charity
All roads lead to Rome… with a few stops along the way.
On February 2, 200 students from Dublin City University (DCU) will set off on a trip to Rome for the 2017 edition of an annual adventure that will raise thousands for a worthy cause.
The students, split into 100 teams of two, will have to attempt to make it to the Italian capital without spending a single cent, instead relying on the generosity of others to blag their way to Italy whatever way they can.
Rome has been chosen as the destination for this year’s Beg, Borrow and Steal event, which pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin, with the teams having to rely upon lifts, donations and possibly even offers of accommodation to complete their journey.
All teams are required to raise a minimum of €250 to enter and having raised €50,000 for the Movember Foundation last year, they’re hoping they can top €60,000 this time around.
To make it even more interesting, DCU's Students’ Union, who are running the event, will introduce a few mystery checkpoints that teams must stop off at on their way to Rome, although the location of those checkpoints will only be revealed (by a clue) once they leave DCU.
All in all it promises to be a fantastic event and the money raised is going to a great cause.
Good luck and Godspeed to all involved.
