Homelife

This was at 9.30. In the morning.

With the big rugby match kicking off before 3pm today, people are keen to get an early start to St. Patrick’s Day and it seems as if plenty of people in Edinburgh are getting a head start on everyone else. If you’ve been to the city, you may well be aware of The Three Sisters, a popular Irish bar located in Cowgate and run by a Tipperary man, Eric Drought. Today was always going to be one of the busier days of the year for the bar but the extent of the crowds gathered this morning suggest that it might be one of the busiest days in its history. The video of the queue outside the pub below was recorded by operations manager Donal Hurrell, an Antrim man on duty today, at 9.30am, half an hour after the pub had opened at 9am. https://youtu.be/5fdy12XNtjQ The picture below, meanwhile, was taken shortly afterwards. Not even the snow could prevent punters from showing up... The promise of a free fry up may well have contributed to the size of the crowds gathered early doors, as, no doubt, did some of the acts on the Three Sisters St. Patrick’s Festival line-up. Running since Thursday, The 2 Johnnies and Boyzlife performed at the venue on Friday night, with Jedward and The Rubberbandits slated to perform after the rugby is done and dusted later this evening. https://twitter.com/Rubberbandits/status/974771958016565248 How many of the crowd gathered at 9.30am will still be there for the Rubberbandits remains to be seen (please drink responsibly, folks) but safe to say the place will be hopping until the early hours of Sunday morning, especially if things go our way in Twickenham this afternoon. Cheers to Donal Hurrey for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to editorial@JOE.ie or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
