PICS: As expected, The Barge is rammed with people enjoying pints in the sunshine

Kate Demolder

Summer is (finally) here.

You can only count on three things in this life:

  • Life
  • Death
  • A crowd of people being outside The Barge pub in Dublin when the sun hits the capital

Following an awful winter, we’ve experience a cracking week in terms of weather – with the hottest day of the year so far being recorded just yesterday.

We’ve heard that the good weather is set to continue this week, with scattered spells of sunshine expected long into the weekend.

Crowds in suits headed for the iconic pub on their way home from work, with the numbers only growing bigger as people scramble out of their offices for the day.

We expect this to be the first of many crowded excursions to The Barge this weather – it’s a hugely popular spot when a solitary ray of sunshine peaks its way through those fluffy clouds.

Here was the scene from last year when a man passed the pub in his boat during some good weather.
