From housemates to internships: 9 tough decisions every student has to make

Students have to make loads of tough decisions and it's not all about beans on toast versus curried noodles.

Netflix or Notes?

Do you study, or watch an extra episode? This one is easy - if you're studying politics, watch House of Cards. If you're studying science, continue watching Breaking Bad. Easy.

Cleaning rosters or winging it with your house-mates?

Rosters are a pain in the ass, but so is passive aggressively hoping that your one dirty house-mate eventually cleans his dishes. Oh wait, they're your dishes... oops.

'More coffee' or 'I'll finish that assignment tomorrow'?

How many cups have you already had? If your answer is in double figures, you're probably not going to sleep anyway, so finish your assignment.

Society full of cool people or society involving an activity that interests you?

Don't ever not do something because you think it's not cool. JOE had some of the best nights out of his college life with the guys from Chess Club... that's in spite of them spending most of the evening pawning me off.

Weekends at home or weekends in your student accommodation?

It's good to get home every now and again. Not to mention, you'll be able to get some laundry done. Brilliant.

J1 or inter-railing?

For students who want to spend their summer travelling, this is usually the big question. J1s could be a thing of the past if Donald Trump becomes US president, so we would say go while they're still a thing.

Internship or part-time job that pays?

If you're not travelling during the summer months, this is probably your choice. Make sure any internship you do is worthwhile, otherwise you might be better off getting experience in a paid role.

Tuesdays or Thursday nights out?

Or you could just pick the night when you don't have a 9am lecture the next morning.

Do you, or do you not, ask that person from your lecture out?

What's the worst that can happen? You might have to deal with them for the rest of your college experience if they reject you... yeah, there's that.
