Up your game in the gym with a few stylish pieces of kit

The nice weather is making a come back, and we’re going to want to be in the best shape possible for the (hopefully) warm Spring and Summer that’s coming our way, so most of us will be pounding the pavement or pumping iron in the gym in order to look good.

However, being a style icon and hitting the gym aren’t normally two activities that work together. It’s hard to look cool and photogenic when you’re sweating and pushing it to the limit, unless you’re that photogenic guy from the marathon memes.

However, not all hope is lost, you too can look that good, and by getting that extra bit of exercise in there’s no doubt that you will, but first you need to look the part with some slick gear and give your workout wardrobe a bit of an overhaul with a few pieces of kit that are both practical and stylish from our mates at Littlewoods Ireland.

The weather is good, but it’s not that good yet, so start off on your under layers. Get those right and you should be warm enough without ending up sweating to within an inch of your life, so this Puma evoPOWER technical t-shirt (€39) will fit the bill nicely, and throw this simple but classic Reebok t-shirt (€19) over the top for comfort. You never want to be the guy at the gym only wearing baselayer.

One of the biggest brands around at the moment, and one that we really love is Under Armour. They make quality gear for all conditions, and in this transitional weather it’s really important that not only do you look good but your stuff should be functional. This zip top (€30) is not only a great shade of blue (it’ll bring out your eyes, trust us) but is sure to keep you warm enough on the cold evenings but not so hot that you’re dripping sweat.

Accessories are also key, and making sure that you have your tunes or your podcasts to listen while you slog through that run or push through the last set is important. Grab yourself this Nike armband for your iPhone (€32) and you won’t be stuck without the Rocky theme tune when you really need it.

Finally, you’re going to need some shorts and a pair of runners for your feet to make sure that you comply with laws about having trousers on in public, and we think these Nike running shorts (€39) are great. Finding ones that aren’t too long or too short is pretty difficult, but these are pretty much perfect on that front. Pair them with the Adidas Supernova Glide 6 trainers (€104) and your outfit is complete, making sure you’re hitting the gym in style, without breaking the bank.
