SEAT have finally revealed details on the Spanish brand’s most powerful series-production car to date: the all-new Leon CUPRA.

The new SEAT Leon CUPRA is not only the clear top model in the very successful Leon family, but it is also the Spanish brand’s most powerful series-production car, and the fastest they’ve built to date – for the average Joe Soap, that is.

Right from the start, the Leon CUPRA will be offered as a five-door and as the Leon SC CUPRA Sport Coupé with three doors. The Spanish motor will come equipped with the same 2.0L six-speed manual and DSG option that’s in the current Golf GTi, which will see it reaching 100km/h in just 5.7-seconds (for the 280hp DSG version and 5.8-seconds for the manual).

While the Leon CUPRA might come with a bit of VW tech underneath, it’s worlds apart from its German counterpart in the looks department. The Leon CUPRA incorporates a nice bit of sporty Spanish flare along with some sharp defining lines and it will be available in two different power variants: 265hp and 280hp.

Pricing and a release date for Ireland will be revealed in the coming months but until then you can check out the Leon CUPRA in the gallery above or why not check JOE’s review of the Leon CUPRA’s slightly less powerful, but just as sporty brother, the Leon FR.
