George Hook named in Newstalk’s new weekend schedule

Kate Demolder

A number of new faces have also joined the ranks.

Newstalk has just released their new weekend schedule which sees a whole host of well-known presenters returning to join forces with some fresh talent for 2018.

A number of Newstalk’s presenters will also now be hosting their first solo shows as part of the new schedule.

The new appointments include Newstalk’s tech correspondent Jess Kelly who will from now present her own show entitled Tech Talk each Sunday from 6pm.

As well as this, news presenter Andrea Gilligan will now also be hosting on her own, presenting the current affairs and politics-focused Between The Lines every Sunday morning.

Newstalk reporter and regular cover presenter, Kieran Cuddihy, is also set to present the radio station’s popular current affairs show, On The Record.

The new line-up also sees George Hook’s return to the airwaves with his new feature-led show Hook’s Saturday Sit-In, that will involve interviews, reviews and regular items on travel, music and US politics.

Back in September, Hook was suspended from air following comments the veteran radio presenter made about rape victims. The broadcaster was branded sexist after he revealed his belief that rape victims ”who put themselves in danger” should also be blamed.
