Winter’s gone, it’s time to inject some colour into our Spring/Summer wardrobe

As we move into Spring and Summer, we can start ditching a few of the more bland and dark colours for brighter shades that capture that bit of sunshine and the lighter mood that comes with the warmer weather. However, you do need to make sure that you’re prepared for rain and sun, wind and snow…pretty much whatever the lucky dip that is the Irish weather forecast has in store.

With that in mind switching between layers and looking smart can be a bit of a challenge, but putting together a few classic pieces will create a look that can transition from the office to the pub with almost no hassle. Smart shirts paired with a classic knit is a look that never goes out of style, whether you’re headed to dinner with the other half or meeting the lads to watch the game.

Spring is all about clearing and cleaning, and even though there’s a pile of stuff that could well house living creatures on our bedroom floor that does require immediate attention, you can still carry that clean and bright feeling through to your clobber. Wearing lively, pastel colours is a great way to breathe some life into your wardrobe and get a bit of attention, but you want to go about it in the right way; that is little by little. Instead of pairing a salmon shirt with lilac khakis and some neon yellow socks, start with the shirt (a light shade of blue, as shown here) and match with a darker shade of trousers.

A classic beige Mac might not be too adventurous, but it still strays away from the dark and heavy overcoats of winter. The right shoes are essential to top your outfit off, so opting for a traditional style with a twist, like these two tone brogues, will give your kicks a fresh look that makes your look pop from head to toe.
