Start your workout kit from the ground up with any of these very slick runners

Hitting the gym in style is not always an easy task, seeing as you’re going to spend your time sweating and short of breath, but that’s no reason not to try and look your best while you do it. While a lot of us will reach for a ripped t-shirt and some shorts that might have seen better days, it’s time to kick your workout wardrobe in to high gear, starting with the shoes.

JOE has cast our eye around looking for some great designs and stylish looks that will make sure you get the best workout, but can also get some glances of admiration for your clobber too.

Under Armour Speedform

The lads at Under Armoud consistently produce some very nice gear that perfectly combines function and fashion in a way that satisfies both the fashionista and athlete in us. The new Speedform is another hit that comes in a range of eye-catching colours, and they have made it on to our Most Wanted list.

Reebok Z Quick

Reebok’s association with CrossFit was a pretty genius move that has allowed them to get involved with a hugely dedicated community, and they do seem to have upped their game a good bit too when it comes to design. The ZQuick is a simple buy stylish number, and if it’s good enough to make Knowshon Moreno shed a tear, then it’s good enough for us.

Asics Super J33

When it comes to running, few brands have a pedigree like Asiscs, but they’ve also turned their eye to making runners that people other than American tourists are happy to wear. The Super J 33 is their first shoe designed for shorter distance running, so you can up the tempo and mix up your routine a bit.
Available from Elverys and the Asics Ireland site

New Balance Fresh Foam 980

Browsing the New Balance catalogue is like taking a step back to the 1980s/90s, but in the best possible way. If you’re shod in these bad boys (Fresh Foam 980), you’ll be taking that step in style, too.

Nike Flynkit Lunar 2+

From workout runners to football boots, the knit is the new thing, and the latest collection of Nike FlyKnits is a pleasure to behold. In a range of bright colours, they’ll add some flash to your workout gear, and make sure that you’ve got plenty of comfort and flexibility to do even the most demanding of routines.
Full range of FlyKnit available from LifeStyle, JD Sports and the Nike website

Puma Faas 100

These lads make the ever trusted Puma King, which has long been a bestseller here in Ireland, but they also shod the fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt. The Faas 100 might not be the exact ones that he wears, but we’ll certainly feel that little bit faster with them on, or at least a bit cooler. The 100 TR is not too bad either, it must be said if trail running is your thing.
Available from Puma online store

Brooks Adrenaline ASR 10
When it comes to making a running shoe, the guys at Brooks know a thing or two and they have all the awards to back it up. They’ve also turned their eye to styling things up a bit too, and the Adrenaline ASR covers both those bases to make sure you won’t be found wanting at mile 2 or 22.
A full range of Brooks runners is available from Runways
