You would think with the massive amount of coffee that we drink in this country, our tea usage would be dropping back a bit but a graphic, published today, confirms that only Turkey consumes more of the stuff per head than Ireland.
Using data compiled by Euromonitor and the World Bank, Quartz calculate that we get through 4.8 lbs per head every year. That puts us in second place globally, over half a pound ahead of the UK. Only Turkey get through more tea, with an astonishing seven pounds per head consumed there.
