Some Italia ’90 vibes going on.
A Guinness Christmas jumper that wraps in footy nostalgia? Tell us more!
We’re a week into December, writes Fiona Frawley, and the Christmas present panic has well and truly set in.
For every smug online shopping whizz who’s had everything ordered and wrapped since October there’s a frazzled, last minute king or queen who’s maybe attempted to go present shopping, but inevitably abandoned ship at the first sign of a queue and ended up in the pub.
If you’re in the second camp, fear not. The perfect pressie for the football nostalgia/Guinness lover in your life will be up for grabs in a very limited capacity.
Just in time for Christmas, Guinness has announced an exciting partnership with Pellador, the innovative Irish premium knitwear brand by Limerick designer Greg Hall.
Expected to sell out fast, the limited edition drop has a run of just 200 jumpers for sale, inspired by Guinness’ rich history in football.
The collaboration combines the creative forces of Guinness and Pellador, celebrating the unique features of Irish design through a contemporary fresh lens. The limited run jacquard knit jumper uses a Guinness logo by legendary designer Bruce Hobbs, used by the brand from 1963 to the late 90s, including in a selection of 80’s Guinness football adverts.
Speaking about the collab, Pellador FC founder Greg Hall said “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Guinness, an iconic Irish brand with such a rich design history and one that I’ve always aspired to work with. Guinness is a brand that goes hand in hand with many elements of Irish culture and recontextualising it into a modern fashion project for people to wear in homage to old and new is what we aimed to do with this collaboration. From the Celtic triquetra of our logo, the classic Guinness harp and the football inspired silhouette, we feel the piece blends together many elements of Irish culture from traditional to modern.”
Just 200 jumpers are available to purchase and went up to buy on the Pellador website from 11am, today.
