JOE’s favourite action scenes no. 4: Terminator 2: Judgement Day

JOE

Once again we’ve gone for Arnie, but seriously, this man knows his action.

Thanks to Lucozade Energy, we’re counting down our favourite action film scenes. Number 4 on the list is from the ground breaking Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

When you’re looking for someone to blow something up, shoot it until it explodes to death or in general cause billions of dollars of damage in an effort to free a cat from a tree (or whatever it is that True Lies was about), then Arnie is your man.

We’ve already seen (LINK)his great work in Eraser(/LINK), but perhaps his finest role came as the emotionless humanoid robot-man T-800, also known as the Terminator of the movie’s title, or Termie, as we like to call him. Perhaps it’s unfair to say emotionless, as he did learn to love by the end, but we’re made instantly uneasy by the thought of a robot who can emote. If they too can feel sadness and a sense of purpose, will they rise up and kill us all in an effort to improve upon our flimsy skeletons made of bone? A chilling vision.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. There are, as with any Schwarzenegger classic, a whole heap of scenes that we could choose from in this particular flick that show him at his destructive best, but perhaps the most sheer damage is done when he whips out his gatling gun, and decides to make explosions out of all that lies before him.

Not satisfied with that, it’s then time to whip out the trusty grenade launcher and start blowing up everything else that hasn’t already blown up, and in general he just has the type of craic that we’ve all had in your average game of Grand Theft Auto once we’ve unlocked the explosive power of grenades and rockets.

We know what you’re thinking at this point – “how much did all that damage cost?”. The answer is quite a bit, but thankfully, some internet folks have already done a compilation of not just that particular scene, but the entire Terminator 2 flick. It turns out Terminators really hate padlocks.
