JOE’s Instareview: Opel Astra OPC

JOE gets behind the wheel of one very mean German

Oisin Collins

JOE’s Oisín Collins recently tested out the Opel Astra OPC, aka. the latest hot hatch from German manufacturer.

For our latest Instareview we’re giving you lot a look at the 2.0L turbo petrol Opel Astra OPC, which is the sportiest and fastest Astra that Opel have to offer.

It has some stiff opposition with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST, but it certainly holds its own out on the roads and looks the part too.

The Looks…

The Engine…

The Sport Seats…

The Verdict…

Opel’s Astra OPC is a wolf in bull’s clothing. It’s certainly not a car to be messed with, either by other road users or by the driver themselves, as it just begs to be driven fast… and believe us, it does just that.

This is certainly a car you’re going to want to take out on a race track, because you’ll never truly experience what the Astra OPC has to offer on Irish roads – not legally, anyway.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most comfortable hot hatches we’ve had the pleasure of driving and it’s down right gorgeous. Muscular lines give the car an overall mean and masculine look that you instantly recognise as being fast.

Priced at €39,995 (excluding options) the Astra OPC isn’t going to be for everyone, but those that do buy it will also inadvertently purchase a permanent smile for themselves.
