WATCH: Johnny Depp jokes about assassinating Donald Trump

Depp even noted that his comment would get him in trouble with the press.

There’s no getting out of this one.

At Glastonbury on Thursday night, Johnny Depp joked about assassinating current United States President Donald Trump during an appearance at Cineramageddon.

The drive-in cinema in Somerset was holding a viewing of Depp’s 2004 film, The Libertine, and the actor was on hand to introduce the film to the audience.

Fans cheered as he took to the stage but their mood slowly changed when he told them that he would like to ask Donald Trump onto the stage if he was there.

Some began to boo as they clearly did not get where Depp was going with this and the heckles were short lived when Depp added that he felt Trump needed some help.

“I think he needs help and there are a lot of wonderful dark, dark places he could go,” Depp said.

“It is just a question – I’m not insinuating anything. By the way, this is going to be in the press. It will be horrible. I like that you are all a part of it” before asking  “when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” he asked in reference to the death of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865.

“I want to clarify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it has been a while and maybe it is time,” he added.

Depp, who arrived in a blue vintage Cadillac, was greeted with crowds of screaming fans holding phones.

Mock assassinations of Donald Trump has become a trend in recent weeks. This stunt from Depp comes after a Shakespeare in the Park play in New York City depicted the assassination of Julius Caesar who was being played by a Trump-like character.
