This Lidl float from Galway was one of a number of Lidl floats in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day

A lot of people had the same idea…

Floats in St. Patrick’s Day parades throughout Ireland have a habit of reflecting topical events and given that it only happened a few weeks’ ago, a certain infamous incident at a Lidl in Dublin was always likely to be referenced this year.

What happened at the Lidl in Fortunestown during the severe weather was deplorable, but with the store employees deployed elsewhere and plans already in place to build a new Lidl on site, harmless floats remembering the occasion are appearing all over the country.

Even Lidl Ireland are getting in on the spirit of things…

We’ve seen a few floats inspired by the incident in question, but none better than a float in Spiddal in Galway, which featured a mini JCB, a makeshift Lidl and even some Gardaí to accost the wrongdoers.

No shortage of effort gone in here, that’s for sure; if this didn’t win the top prize in Spiddal, we’d love to see the one that did.

Cheers to Brendan Kenny for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
