It’s going to be spray cans at dawn.

OK, so it’s going to be a lot later than “dawn” but you get the idea. Leading Irish street artists will face off against each other in a novel graffiti competition at Bulmers Forbidden Fruit from Saturday to Monday, 3-5 June.

Remember the rap battles in 8 Mile? Well, it’s the same principle except with more paint and less trash talk. Well, we’re assuming there’ll be less trash talk but things might kick off on the day! One thing for sure is that nobody will want to lose.

The Bulmers Live Art area will be hosting live graffiti battles featuring the cream of Irish street art talent. Planned battles include Niall O’Loughlin vs Friz, Jess Tobin vs Holly Pereira, Shane Ha vs Squid Fillets, Dillon Theodor vs Cian Hackett, El Viz vs Kayde Middleton and Vents vs Mack Signs.

The street artists will go head-to-head with limited materials and time to create a work based on a theme. The crowd will get to see the talented rivals create something amazing in real-time, with the winner being chosen by the crowd. So in addition to catching some amazing street artists doing their thing in the flesh, you can also have a hand in deciding who wins.

There may be a stellar line-up of musical acts playing at the Bulmers Forbidden Fruit but that’s not all it has to offer. The Bulmers Live Art area is just one of the many areas offering alternative entertainment over the three days of the festival.

Other options include a comedy tent that will host the likes of Joe Rooney, Jarlath Regan, our own Eric Lawlor and many more. There’ll also be a funfair for anyone looking to take a spin without going anywhere and a Disco Dodgems that will combine bumper cars with pumping DJ sets.

As if that wasn’t enough, Aungier Danger will be bringing their fantastic donuts to the event and there’ll be a cocktail bar offering everything you need by way of refreshing libations.

Monday will also see Bingo Loco offer a unique twist on classic bingo. Plus there’s an inflatable church if you fancy tying the knot with your significant other or a random passer-by! Who says romance is dead?

Bulmers Live Art will host Bulmers Graffiti Battles with 100% Irish street artists. Two live battles will take place each day and each battle will have a theme. For more information on the other entertainment on offer at Bulmers Forbidden Fruit, check out the website.
