Shipping up to Louth?
The smallest county in Ireland has reason for celebration this morning as it’s been revealed that the Wee County is the luckiest in terms of National Lottery wins.
New data from Lotto HQ has proven this fact, maintaining that the county boasts the most Lotto millionaires per head of population since it was launched thirty years ago, with an incredible 76 lucky Lotto jackpot winners.
The figures, which are based off the 2016 Census Population, show that Lotto winners hailing from Louth have won in excess of €89m, with 5.9 Lotto jackpot winners for every 10,000 people.
Second up is Donegal with an impressive 5.65 Lotto Jackpot wins per 10,000 people.
Third fourth and fifth are Mayo, Dublin and Carlow respectively – with 4.44, 4.25 and 3.86 Lotto Jackpots per 10,000 people.

- Carlow – Population: 56,932 – Lotto Jackpot wins: 22 – Per 10,000: 3.86
“One of the most frequent questions we are asked is what is Ireland’s luckiest Lotto county,” National Lottery CEO, Dermot Griffin commented on the data upon its release.
“There has always been great rivalry amongst our players all over the country to claim this title.
“But it is important to note that chance has no memory and playing Lotto is purely a matter of luck.
