There’s no let up in the rain.

Seven counties across Ireland were hit with rainfall warnings yesterday, and at 8am on Saturday, Met Éireann confirmed that five of those counties will experience another day of hazardous rain.

In a status yellow west coast warning covering Galway, Mayo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick, Met Éireann has advised that “spells of rain during Saturday with further accumulations of up to 20mm possible, especially in upland areas.”

The warning will remain in effect from 8am today until at least midnight tonight.

In addition, a status yellow gale warning has been issued off the coast of the country, with Met Éireann warning: “Northwesterly winds will reach gale force 8 and occasionally strong gale force 9 today on Irish Coastal Waters from Carnsore Point to Mizen Head to Loop Head.”

So if that’s not the motivating you needed to stay in bed for the rest of the day, we simply don’t know what is.
