Morrissey takes a pop at Sir David Attenborough over his ‘regard for animals’

Bigmouth Strikes Again.

With a new album to promote, Low in High School, it’s no surprise to see Morrissey’s name in the headlines. Only recently, the outspoken singer of The Smiths gave some controversial comments about the recent sexual harassment and sexual assault stories involving Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.

During a recent interview with The Times, the singer elaborated on those remarks while also taking a pop at the beloved broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

“I don’t know about Attenborough’s regard for animals. He often uses terms like ‘seafood’ and there’s no such thing. It’s sea life, and he talks about ‘wildlife’ and it’s free life. Animals are not wild simply because we pathetic humans haven’t shoved them in a cage, so his terminology is often up the pole,” Morrissey said.

The singer is a staunch vegetarian and has previously said that: ” I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder. If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away.”

During Sir David Attenborough’s sixty-year career, he has been honoured with a CBE, knighthood, and BAFTA.

Aside from this, the host of Blue Planet II is widely regarded as one of the most influential and well-respected broadcasters in the world.

When Time Magazine named Sir David Attenborough as their ‘Hero of the Environment’ in 2007, they said: “No living person has done more to make the people of Planet Earth aware of the world around them.”
