How does he know this golf ball is his golf ball? Good question…
Earlier this week, Presidential candidate Peter Casey found himself under attack for a campaign video posted on Twitter.
The 60-year-old businessman, and one of three Dragons’ Den hosts who are currently in the running for candidacy, posted a video of himself whacking a golf ball into the ocean alongside the caption “This is the only driver I’ll be bringing to the Áras when I get elected”.

Presumably, the implication there is that he’ll drive himself around as president, but what the majority of people seemed to focus on was that he was adding more plastic and elastic to the ocean.

Following the strong online reaction, Casey clearly was paying attention, and posted the following message on his Twitter account on Sunday afternoon:
“Let it not be said that I do not listen to the voters’ concerns. This morning I plunged into Lough Foyle and retrieved the golf ball. It was frigid, but it was a nice way to quickly wake up.”
He also posted a pic of a golf ball covered in grass and muck and stuff.
How does he know this particular golf ball was his golf ball? No idea. But we’re sure he’s got a good explanation…
