We feel for them.
Journalism is a fast paced world and every now and again we make mistakes. What’s important though is being able to acknowledge when things go wrong and roll with the punches, like, for example, today when FHM tweeted the Irish comedian Ed Byrne about an article that he knew nothing about.

Ed Byrne got back to the magazine to inform them that they had made a mistake and it was not him in the interview but another familiar Irish comedian, Jason Byrne.
I didn't do this interview. Clearly you interviewed @thejasonbyrne and got confused. #JournalismFail https://t.co/9u41uH6d01

This was quite a bad situation for FHM and I know what you’re thinking, it’s still possible to salvage it. Rather than admit their mistake and laugh it off, FHM were not fully convinced that they made an error and decided to question Ed Byrne’s confident knowledge regarding his own identity, pulling out a 2012 interview with his name and photo.
This was also an interview that Ed Byrne didn’t do. Double fail.
.@FHM It looks like me because you dolts put my name and my photo on it. I didn't give you the interview. I'm not ginger!

And just in case they still didn’t believe him, he told the magazine to ask the other Irish comedian, Jason Byrne.
.@FHM If you don't believe me, and it appears you don't, just ask @thejasonbyrne

Naturally, the public profile of both comedians has meant that the gaffe didn’t stay hidden for long as the Twitterverse were quick to add their two cents.
@MrEdByrne OMG!…and here I thought I was following Jason Byrne this whole time!!! Well this is embarrassing for all involved!

Another bright spark quipped they should get Samuel L Jackson on the case and Ed Byrne, clearly enjoying the spotlight, tweeted an excellent reply.
@iMcTweet Loved him in The Matrix!

We did love this puntastic comment from a Twitter user also.
