PIC: In London you can pay €900 to sleep on an actual kitchen shelf

Carl Kinsella

We all know that rent prices in Dublin are catastrophically high right now…

In case you missed it, there was a shed in Lucan available to rent for €700 a month. But don’t try to escape just yet, because it turns out things are pretty bloody grim across the Irish sea as well.

There’s a picture going viral on Twitter for an apartment in London where it would cost you £765 (or €888) a month to sleep on what is essentially a kitchen shelf.

The apartment in Brixton is listed as a three bedroom, which we think is a bit of an exaggeration — given that one of the beds clearly used to be used for storing crockery and cutlery.

Unless the landlord comes across somebody who wants to feel like a talking plate in a Disney movie who sleeps on a kitchen shelf, we really don’t know if they’re going to be able to find a person to fill that space.

If you’re interested in the apartment, you can check it out here.
