Folks are preparing for the worst as The Beast From The East approaches.

Listen... okay... we know the weather is going to be bad. Met Éireann has issued a status orange weather warning with snow and ice set to hit the east of the country in the coming days, and scattered snow showers are expected in Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath on Tuesday, leading to accumulations of 4 - 6 centimetres by Wednesday morning. But some folk have taken to their local supermarkets and moved through it like a plague of locusts. This isn't the end of days, people. This is a bit of snow. This isn't a real-life remake of disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow. It is, quite literally, a bit of snow. Despite that knowledge, people have taken to twitter upon discovering that their local stores are completely sold out of the basics like milk and bread, like those with nuclear bunkers decided today was the day to stock up. https://twitter.com/isarahkate/status/968190705523986432 https://twitter.com/KateEHank/status/968204242157756416 https://twitter.com/cncpinky/status/968204066697502721 https://twitter.com/Ryan_DBurgess/status/968195903185129473 https://twitter.com/jazkeanedj/status/968194731795771393 https://twitter.com/lapetitepie/status/968197379567603712 https://twitter.com/BrianOM_7/status/968202258323210240 https://twitter.com/PAShortt/status/968204396298493952 https://twitter.com/gavreilly/status/968194073470361600 https://twitter.com/dudara/status/968200904188014592 https://twitter.com/NobbyFM104/status/968202628231548929 Thank you to Sinead Whitty for the main image, sent in from Aldi in New Ross.
