The brilliantly named Hubertus von Hohenlohe (what an authentic Mexican name that is) will be wearing this piece of sartorial brilliance at the Winter Olympics

As a nod to his Mexican heritage, 55-year-old Alpine skier Hubertus von Hohenlohe will be wearing a Mariachi-themed ski suit, which is something very, very special to behold.

Von Hohenlohe is a very interesting character, being a member of the German royalty, as well as being an accomplished photographer, and qualifies for Mexico under the granny rule, given that his grandmother was half-Mexican. He was also born there, and is hoping that he can win the gold this year. While he is realistic about his chances of getting anything on the slopes, he certainly thought he would get the top prize for style when he spoke to NBC Sports recently.

This isn’t the first time that he’s worn some outlandish gear (either on the slopes or off it), as in Vancouver in 2010 he also had Kappa make him up a desperado suit, complete with a pistol and a strap of extra bullets, just in case he needed them.

It will most likely be von Hohenlohe’s last run at the Olympics, and in an outfit like this, he is most certainly going out in style.

Hat-tip to NBC Sports and Bleacher Report for the pics
