QUIZ: Name the counties in Ireland with borders to counties only in their own province

Conor Heneghan

Quiz

We’re giving you three minutes.

There was plenty of scoffing at people in the United Kingdom trying to draw the Irish border on a map before Christmas, but how well do you know the geography of your own country?

If you think you’re fairly up to speed, then prove it by beating the clock and naming the counties that don’t have borders to any counties outside of their own province.

We’re not going to give you any of the answers, but to make it clear what we’re looking for, Longford, for example, isn’t on the list because it has a border with counties in two other provinces (Roscommon and Leitrim in Connacht and Cavan in Ulster) as well as a county in its own province (Leinster).

We must also stress that we have only included counties with land borders to counties in other provinces here, which is important in one case in particular and may have provided you with a big hint.

We’ve counted 13 counties in total and we’re giving you three minutes to name them all.

No cheating now…
