“You need to tell the story of who you are before you even say a word…”

Last week, we introduced you to young up-and-coming spoken word artist Róisín Whelan. As part of our #TimeToShine campaign, we’re going to follow her journey as she learns to conquer any self-doubt she has in her own ability.

With the help of established spoken word artist Melissa Ridge of Boundless & Bare, Róisín is going to learn to master her art. The first thing she needs to do to get there is believe that she actually can.

That requires confidence, and lots of it. Especially in a performance art like spoken word, what the audience thinks of the person walking on stage in the first few seconds will affect how they see the entire performance.

This time around, Melissa is teaching Róisín all about how to loosen up before a performance and how to go into it with the utmost confidence. The talent, ability and work ethic are all there, it’s just a case of Róisín being able to remind herself of that before she steps out on stage.

There’s confidence inside all of us and with Extra at your side, you can let that confidence out. Chewing gum helps refresh your mouth and your mind and bring out the best version of ourselves for the world to see. Time to Shine.
