Here are 7 New Year’s resolutions you should get involved with

JOE

It’s that time of year again…

2017 is here and it’s as good a time as any for you to make a fresh start. Maybe one or some of these could be just the thing for you?

1. Quit smoking

One of the most popular resolutions out there. We’d love to see a graph of people who have stayed off the smokes since making it their New Year’s resolution.

It’s damaging to your health and if that’s not reason enough, it’s damaging to your wealth too. A tenner for a pack of cigarettes? No thanks!

2. Get fit

You’re never too old to get fit. People insist they will join a gym in the New Year and then quit after one half-hearted session on a treadmill which resulted in you getting a stitch.

Stick with it. Getting fit is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself. You will look and feel great and have boundless energy.

3. Quit binge-drinking

We wouldn’t begrudge anyone a sociable drink, never in a million years, but do yourself an enormous favour and quit your binge-drinking. You’ll save money and it’ll do wonders for your health.

4. Choose a charity to donate to

There are so many deserving charities to donate to that it can be hard to decide on who to help. Best idea we have is to focus on one charity and do whatever you can for it for the whole year.

5. Be nicer to people

The world is an unforgiving place. There is a lot of suffering and hardship and it doesn’t cost anything to be respectful and kind to others. We are not urging people to give the shirts off their backs, but a little courtesy and kindness can mean so much to a lot of people.

No matter how bad your day is going, there is always someone having a worse one.

6. Mark something off your bucket list

Everyone has something they want to do, a life-long ambition. Stop putting it off. Whether it be to climb the Himalayas, go bungee jumping or even getting a selfie and a hug from Roy Keane, make 2017 the year that you do it.

You’ll feel great afterwards, we promise. Unless of course you are trying to get a hug from Keano. Good luck with that.

7. Learn something new

You can never know too much. One of the best things to do to keep the mind active is to learn a new skill, whether it be a new language, or an instrument or even just to drive, it’s important we keep striving to learn.
