‘Cunt.’
It’s an awful word, really, the kind that would draw the wooden spoon out in double quick time if it ever passed your lips as a child.
It’s also a great word, when you think about it.
Nothing comes close to it when you want to let someone you really dislike know the extent of your rage, or when you accidentally burn your hand on a hot saucepan. Somehow, ‘fuckin’ *shite* of a thing!!!’ doesn’t carry the same force.
Yesterday, we asked you to pick the most filthy, the most offensive swear word in Ireland and 88.6% of you chose the ‘c’-word.
The number again is 88.6%, or 3,255 out of a total vote of 3,674. Almost unanimous.
The result was slightly skewed, though – many people commented about the absence of the word ‘Geebag,’ and for that we are truly sorry.
