It’s the Friday before Christmas which means two things; Irish men all over the country are panicking because they haven’t started shopping yet and a lot of alcohol is about to be guzzled down.
Tonight is officially the biggest drinking night of the year as the consumption of alcohol will rise 114% compared the average Friday night in Ireland.
Irish people drank an average of 10 litres of pure alcohol last year with beer the most popular beverage of choice, while as a nation we drank 38 million litres.
Alcohol Action Ireland says 75% of all alcohol drank in Ireland last was done during binge drinking sessions.
Experts are advising people who are planning a big one over Christmas to take it easy in January, sound advice.
