PIC: We’re drooling at the ultimate Irish hamper an Irish bar in Canada is giving away as a prize

Irish hamper

We’d nearly fly over to Vancouver ourselves just to enter the competition.

Anyone who’s ever lived away from Ireland for an extended period will know that, aside from the obvious stuff like family and friends, it’s the little things you miss.

Little things like food and drink unique to Ireland that you might find in other countries if you look hard enough, but just aren’t the same as they are at home.

Tapping into that longing for all things Irish, Donnellan’s Irish pub in Vancouver are offering up a hell of a competition prize to help celebrate their grand opening next month.

Sure, you could cobble together all of these in 20 minutes in most towns in Ireland if you were bothered, but we still have serious envy towards the lucky person or people in Vancouver who end up winning this baby next month.

Here’s a full list of what’s included:

  • Buckfast
  • Lucozade
  • Club Orange/Rock Shandy/Lemon
  • Lilt
  • Mi-Wadi Blackcurrant/Orange
  • McDonnells Curry Sauce
  • Ballymaloe Relish
  • Black/White Pudding
  • Lyons Tea/Barrys Tea
  • Batchelors Baked Beans
  • Purple Snacks
  • Club Milks
  • Freddos/Chomps/Fudge Bars
  • Chewits/Refreshers/Polo Mints
  • Double Dip Sherbet
  • Blue Extra Chewing Gum
  • Tayto Cheese & Onion/Salt & Vinegar
  • Hunky Dory Cheese & Onion/Salt & Vinegar/Buffalo
  • King Cheese & Onion
  • BBQ Hula Hoops
  • Monster Munch
  • Chipstix
  • Meanies
  • Rancheros
  • Mighty Munch

Excuse us while we let all of that sink in for a moment…

If you’re in Vancouver, all you have to do to enter is guess the amount of shiny pens in the box in the picture on Donnellan’s Facebook page.

Not surprisingly, there have been hundreds of entries already and the winner will be announced on Good Friday, April 14.

We can only hope that whoever does win it hasn’t gone off anything for Lent because there’s no way they’ll be able to resist that delicious bounty, Good Friday or no Good Friday.

Cheers to John Griffin for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
