VIDEO: Groomsmen at Kildare wedding deliver inspired Buckfast-themed Christmas song for best man’s speech

Lovely Buckie

Conor Heneghan

Best man speeches don’t come any sweeter than this.

We’re not entirely sure of the exact reasons behind it, but the love affair between Irish people and Buckfast is something that dates back for many, many years.

Some people become so fond of that sweet, sweet fortified wine, in fact, that you can’t think of one without the other, which is obviously the case with Sligo man Cormac O’Connor, who recently wed the love of his life, Amy, at a wedding in Kildare.

When it came around to the best man’s speech at the wedding, Cormac’s groomsmen combined to sing a special Buckfast-themed Christmas song for the man of the hour to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas.

The song itself celebrated the eight years the best man has known Cormac and included plenty of good-natured digs at the groom, with every chorus harking back to the bottle of sweet Buckie.

The videos below, sent into us by sister of the groom Rhona O’Connor, overlap slightly and you have to watch the second one to see the song come to a glorious and triumphant ending.

Only one way to celebrate musical genius like that; bottles of sweet Buckie all round.

Cheers to Rhona O’Connor for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter
