Video: Watch as the new Ford Focus ST takes on a virtual competitor at Goodwood Festival of Speed

The all-new Ford Focus ST made its debut at the Goodwood Festival over the weekend and its first challenge was to beat a virtual Ford Focus ST on the iconic track.

The all-new Ford Focus ST made its debut at the Goodwood Festival over the weekend and its first challenge was to beat a virtual Ford Focus ST on the iconic track.

Gran Turismo fanatics will already know that you can race the legendary Goodwood time attack circuit on the latest edition of the franchise and it was used at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend to test out the capabilities of a real Focus ST.

Former Stig, Ben Collins (pictured above wearing blue and white overalls), was behind the wheel of the real ST while a Gran Turismo representative, Krisztian Somodi, took control of the virtual car. Both driver raced the circuit with the winner being the one with the fastest time. Simples.

Here’s a look at the specs of the all-new Focus ST for all you car fanatics out there, along with a few stunning pics just for good measure…

The first ever diesel Focus ST will soon hit the roads and will deliver the most fuel efficient and lowest CO2 Ford performance car ever; 185 PS 2.0‑litre TDCi achieves 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds, 4.4 l/100 km (64.2 mpg), and 114 g/km CO2.

For customers who prefer petrol, the 250 PS 2.0-litre EcoBoost delivers 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.5 seconds, fuel efficiency of 6.8 l/100 km (41.5 mpg), and 158 g/km CO2.

Both models offer Auto-Start-Stop for the first time that improves the EcoBoost version’s fuel efficiency by 6 per cent and help make it the most fuel-efficient petrol Focus ST ever.

The new Focus ST is scheduled to be in Irish dealerships from early 2015. Prices will be announced closer to time of arrival.
