Video: With news of a sequel here’s why Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Running Man is still amazing

The Hunger Games be damned, because after 27 years we want to see Arnie running again…

We’re massive fans of nostalgic and cheesy 80’s action films here in JOE Towers and they don’t get any better than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ’87 blood bath that was a dystopian ‘gladiators on a gameshow’, better known as The Running Man.

The former Governator of California was in London over the weekend for a Q&A where he said that there have been “rumblings of a new Running Man movie, so it’s a great honour to be asked back”.

We would be delighted to see a sequel to the endlessly quotable and hyper violent cult classic because we still love all of these things about the original…

The best smack-talk ever committed to film

The violence and one liner’s were incredibly over the top

It had one of the 80’s greatest villains…

…and potentially one of cinema’s strangest ever along with…

..the campest villain

This awful yet hilarious one-liner

Arnie stabbed someone with a pen

It featured an old lady cursing for absolutely no reason

The films genius can even be summarised in 5 seconds

There isn’t a single thing wrong with The Running Man
