WATCH: This bride and groom brought Shop Street in Galway to a halt with their first dance

Now that’s what we call a first dance…

There are few better places in Ireland on a sunny day than in Galway city. Provided you can find one of those few and far between days where the weather stays wonderfully clear.

Last Friday happened to be one of those beautiful days in Galway.

Kate and Declan got married in the city on the day and decided to walk to their venue, via Shop Street, it was safer than flying pigeons scattering faeces all over the side streets (white dress and all that).

The pair were cajoled by Galway Street Club, who played music for the couple, and lo and behold, the pair began their first dance as a married couple right in the middle of Shop Street, to the delight of all the onlookers.

Ciara Nungesser, who works in Brown Thomas managed to capture footage of the dance and send it into the good folks at Today FM. This, combined with footage taken from the street, you get a good idea of the crowds which gathered to watch the happy couple.

There must be something in the water in Galway that encourages romance. Just recently, we saw this Ballinasloe man’s proposal to his girlfriend on the beach.
