Overnight oats are a lifesaver if you rarely have time to make breakfast.

Breakfast may well be the most important meal of the day, but prepping a meal can often be the last thing on your mind first thing in the morning. Something that you can simply add in the ingredients before you head to bed would be ideal, which is exactly what you’re getting with this overnight oats recipe.

What makes overnight oats so perfect is that you can prep them the night before (or even that morning as they only take two hours to soak), and you’ll be getting your day off to a healthy start. Oats are rich in carbs and fibre, but are also higher in protein and fat than most other grains.

This 50g serving of oats contains just 194 calories, which basically means you’re getting a lot more bang for your buck than you would think. They’re also very low in sugar, and  digest more slowly to keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Overnight oats are eaten cold as well, which will be ideal when the great summer weather we’re definitely getting (you heard it here first) comes our way.

Just in case you’re still not convinced, oats are also a source of a powerful soluble fibre called Beta-Glucan, which can help boost your immune system. They can also help to improve blood sugar control (especially for people who are overweight/have type 2 diabetes).

Eating oats can also lower Cholesterol Levels and protect LDL cholesterol from damage. If you want to learn more about the benefits of eating oats, head here.

Watch the short video below to see how simple it is to prep your overnight oats. You won’t have to step near a hob or even do much more than pour ingredients into a container.

We’ll be posting more meal prep videos like this over the next few months, so keep an eye on our social media!
