“It’s like seeing my father”. What a man.
Irish actor Liam Cunningham received plenty of adulation on Friday night as he used his appearance on the Late Late Show to highlight the seismic problems that Syrian refugees are currently facing. His passionate plea in defence of human rights was widely applauded and as many of you will know, the Game of Thrones actor has frequently visited Syrian refugee camps in Jordan and Greece.
It’s clear that the man who plays Ser Davos Seaworth on the world’s most popular show is passionate about humanitarian causes and he demonstrated this once again by flying to Germany to see 16-year-old Hussam.
The two originally met in Jordan when Cunningham visited a refugee camp with World Vision – a group that has been been supporting refugees and people within Syria since the war began – and the actor was quick to pay tribute to “the generosity of the German people” and “the large heart that the German people have” in welcoming Hussam.
The teenager has now learned English and German as he aims to quickly integrate into German society. Take a look.
