This woman had the perfect response to a scam text

This is how it’s done, folks…

Scammers are the equivalent of the white stuff that accumulates around your mouth when you’re really thirsty or hungover.

They’re always trying to steal you money, or your identity, and the odd time they succeed in fooling some poor, innocent soul into parting with their hard earned cash, including this elderly woman in Galway who lost almost €1,000.

But when Shaina Gimao from The Philippines got a scam text, she was never going to be caught out, and decided to have a little fun with the scammer (although we wouldn’t recommend responding to these texts at all).

Earlier this week a warning was issued about a phone scam which takes people’s credit.

At least three people here in the JOE office in Dublin have already been called by the number, although none actually answered the call.

The call, from the number +33891060952, appears to originate in France, and some folk online are already reporting that they took the call and noticed that their credit had been zapped away.

Be wary folks…
